Friends of the Naval Museum
Museum workers are valuable to museums, especially those who volunteer their time to help develop and grow the museum beyond its own means. Museum volunteers in all forms, ages and sizes, are often able to fill the gaps where there is a lack of staff, knowledge, expertise or even creativity. We are glad to announce that Chief of the South African Navy approved the establishment of a Friends of the South African Naval Museum organisation in 2017, as endorsed by Flag Officer Fleet in 2018. In the midst of serious financial limitations; which unfortunately also affects the meagre budget allocation to the SA Naval Museum; the Friends of the Museum organisation (as a registered NPO) allows for the raising of funds and the generation of income to the benefit of the SA Naval Museum and its activities.
Belong to the only authorised volunteer organisation, formally linked to the South African Naval Museum and make a difference as a volunteer. Make a valuable contribution as a tour guide, historical researcher, archivist or librarian, handyman (repairs and maintenance) and keep our naval traditions alive!
